Opalescent glass has had a material introduced at the raw materials stage which causes a degree of crystallization to occur, creating opacity in the glass. Reflected light is colorless, therefore white. The degree of opacity (and "whiteness") is variable depending upon composition and temperatures used in the manufacturing process. In opalescent windows, white glass (opal) is mixed with one or more other colors of glass to create a variegated, multi-colored sheet. Light transmission and color varies with composition. Displayed in the following pages are our most popular opalescent glass designs. Many more designs are available.
